Today has been a wonderful day! I never imagined I'd be on the cover of Cosmopolitan Indonesia, a favorite magazine I've always read. I'm so happy, and it definitely makes me even more motivated to do good and spread positivity to everyone around me.
But did you know that this incident actually started by accident? It started with a recent Instagram post. In recent years, I've become increasingly concerned about sustainability issues, especially those related to the environment. Just imagine, 85% of fashion textile waste ends up in landfills and the ocean! So worrisome!
Because of this shocking fact, I finally decided to create an educational post on Instagram. For me, social media has truly become the perfect platform to voice issues that concern us. My hope, of course, is that at least my followers will read and start practicing my tips on how to buy fashion items more sustainably.
For example, I think less is more these days. It seems like with the minimalist lifestyle trend, we don't need to buy new clothes as often, as that only adds to the environmental waste. Or, we can actually buy pre-loved clothes, which are now of really good quality, or buy more eco-friendly fashion brands, and also do more DIY work to fix our torn t-shirts and pants. So, we don't always have to buy new, right?
Well, it turns out Cosmopolitan Indonesia shares my concerns! They commented on my IG post and invited me to come over to the Cosmo office to chat further. So exciting! Without further ado, I immediately said yes!
When I walked into the Cosmo office, I was even more excited! The predominantly purple office immediately boosted my mood! Plus, the office looked really fun and fearless, just like their slogan. There, I was greeted by Kissy Aprilia, Cosmopolitan Indonesia's digital editor, and she accompanied me for the cover shoot for Cosmopolitan's September-October 2021 issue! Wow, it's so hard to put my feelings into words. I really didn't expect to be featured in my favorite magazine!
I was a bit confused about what to wear. I'd never done a photoshoot with the media before, so I was a bit nervous. But then I decided to wear a beautiful outfit from Purana Indonesia, my favorite sustainable fashion brand! I deliberately chose a top and trousers with a dominant blue, white, and gray motif because these colors make me super confident!
The best part was, I was able to chat at length about social issues that really concern me. As an influencer for blu by BCA Digital, I wanted to explain to Cosmo how important it is for the younger generation to learn how to manage their finances as early as possible. We've heard so many examples of poor financial management in previous generations. So, of course, we must be able to learn from our mistakes and equip ourselves with better financial literacy.
I hope to be a content creator who plays a role in this educational effort, alongside my friends, Benni and Utta. I feel like, as a millennial, I also experience major temptations these days, from the temptation of FOMO, or the temptation of shopping discounts and retail therapy that often makes your wallet cry. That's why I really want to share my enthusiasm with my peers, so we can all build a strong foundation of financial knowledge and learn how to manage our daily priorities.
Together with the Cosmo editors, I also talked about blu's latest campaign, #MulaiLangkahmu, which aims to encourage young people to take small steps to achieve their dreams. You don't have to struggle alone; now you can use the various advanced features provided by the blu app. For example, there's the bluSaving feature, which helps us better manage our cash flow. With bluSaving, we can have 10 savings accounts in one account. It's incredibly simple to manage our expenses neatly!
Another feature I personally really like is bluDeposit. This investment feature seems perfect for me, who has a low risk tolerance and wants guaranteed profits. With bluDeposit, I can save anytime and anywhere, so I won't give in to worldly temptations!
After a lively chat for about an hour, Kissy also asked about the #blubuatbaik initiative I initiated with Benni and Utta. Many people may not know this, but in this program, blu collaborates with the Greeneration Foundation and Kitabisa.com to donate IDR 1,000 from every new account opened to...
